Honor Flight leaves very early on Day One, with arrival on the east Coast about 12 hours later. Meals are served in-flight, and dinner is served at the American Legion shortly after arrival in Maryland. Mornings begin early to ensure a full experience for participants, but evening activities wrap up around 6pm to accommodate those who need rest. Each veteran is accompanies by a Guardian to ensure their safety and comfort are made a top priority during the trip.
DAY ONE
5 – 5:30am: Check-in for WWII Vets, Guardians, Media at FYI Baggage Claim; USO and Photos.
6:30am: WWII & Guardian procession thru FYI Lobby to Gate. Brief Welcome program by Paul Loeffler (“Hometown Heroes”)
8:35am: Departure on Allegiant Air Flight # 4402 Gate 14; FYI Fire Department Water Cannon Salute
5:30pm: Arrival at Baltimore Washington Airport (BWI); US Air Gate 20 or 22; take Tour buses to Dinner.
6:30pm: BBQ dinner at American Legion Post 276, 8068 Quarterfield Rd., Severn MD
8:00pm: Bus to Crystal City Hilton Hotel – Check-In.
DAY TWO
6:30am – 7:30am: Breakfast Hilton private dining room
7:45am: Load buses
8:00am: Marine (Iwo Jima) Memorial
9:30am: Arrive WWII Memorial – Group photo.
11:00am: Depart for Air Force Memorial & Lunch
1:00pm: Depart for Navy Memorial
2:30pm: Depart for Vietnam Memorial – walk to Korean War Memorial
3:30pm: Depart for Crystal City Hilton
4:00pm – 6:00pm: Open time
6:00pm: Dinner at Hilton private dining room
DAY THREE
6:00am – 7:00am: Breakfast Hilton private dining room
7:15am: Hotel Check-out and board buses; Depart for Arlington National Cemetery
8:00am: Arrive at bus staging area; buses escorted to Tomb of the Unknowns
8:30am: Changing of the Guard ceremony
10:00am: Depart for Women’s Memorial Museum (entrance area to Arlington Nat’l Cemetery)
11:00am: Arrive Smithsonian Air & Space Museum – Lunch hosted by Congressmen
1:00pm: Depart for BWI
3:00pm: Depart Allegiant Air Flight # 4403
6:40pm*: Scheduled arrival Fresno Yosemite International Airport – Welcome Home procession thru Lobby to Baggage Claim– Paul Loeffler presiding.
